Israel ready to stop Gaza conflict
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a ceasefire with Hamas, the Palestinian group seeking independence, accepting U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point proposal on ending the Gaza war and securing the release of hostages, officials said Monday, September 29.
During a meeting in the Oval Office, President Trump outlined a 20-step plan to halt Israeli operations in Gaza. Netanyahu indicated his approval and described the proposal’s first move as a “general withdrawal, followed by the release of all Israeli hostages within 72 hours.

Netanyahu added that the next phase would establish an international body charged with fully disarming Hamas and demilitarizing Gaza. “If this international body succeeds, we will bring about a permanent end to the war,” he said.
Under the proposal, Hamas would no longer control Gaza. An interim administration — reportedly involving the United States, European countries, and Arab states — would be set up to govern the territory, with Donald Trump placed at the center of that arrangement.

The plan also states that Gaza’s residents would remain in place and would not be displaced. However, implementation would only proceed after Hamas frees the Israeli hostages; only then would Israel move toward a lasting ceasefire.
